(CALIBRE) is proud to have sponsored and participated in the Army Women’s Foundation (AWF) Summit held March 8, 2017, at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center Congressional Auditorium. The annual Summit commemorates and honors the service, accomplishments, and sacrifices made by Army women.
The theme of the 2017 AWF Summit was Evolving Opportunities for Army Women: Equip – Empower – Engage and featured keynote addresses from former Surgeon General of the Army, LTG Patricia Horoho (USA-Ret), and Deputy G1, Department of the Army, MG Hugh Van Roosen, followed by two powerhouse panel discussions. CALIBRE leaders LTG Richard Formica (USA-Ret), Vice President Defense Accounts, and Denise Oberndorf, Vice President Finance, Performance, & Logistics, were honored to present a $1,500 Legacy Scholarship to Second Lieutenant Dakota Olson, USA, for graduate studies at the University of Southern California. Lieutenant Olson was selected by the AWF Scholarship Committee in recognition of her extraordinary service and accomplishments and to assist her in achieving her educational goals.
Since 2008, the AWF has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships to Army women – active duty, retired, National Guard, and Reserve – and their children through the foundation’s Legacy Scholarship Program. “CALIBRE is honored to share in recognizing the importance of the role women play in the U.S. Army and proud to contribute to the education of these extraordinary leaders,” said LTG Formica. “Through CALIBRE’s contribution of the Legacy Scholarship, helping Lieutenant Olson attain greater success reinforces CALIBRE’s motto of Our Success Follows Yours,” said Denise Oberndorf.
