Q. How do I submit my resume to CALIBRE?

A. CALIBRE uses a web-based resume submittal format. All applicants, including employee referrals, must submit their resume via our corporate website. Resumes that are mailed, hand-delivered, faxed, or e-mailed cannot be accepted and will only delay the submittal process.

Steps:

  • Via our corporate website, click on “Employment” from the navigation bar. Scroll down and click on “Current Opportunities”. Our current list of job openings will be displayed along with position descriptions. When you have found the position for which you wish to apply, click on “Apply for Position”.
  • Complete the first part of the electronic form which includes personal contact information.
  • Answer a few other questions which help us in our screening process (e.g., if a position requires a security clearance, we can immediately see if you do or do not hold a current clearance).
  • Copy and paste your resume and cover letter content into the text boxes provided.
  • Complete the voluntary self-identification survey containing two short questions. This information is used for CALIBRE’s annual analysis for the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) to support our Affirmative Action Program.
  • Click on “Submit Resume”. You should then see the following message.

Thank you, for your submission.

We have received your resume and appreciate your interest in employment with CALIBRE. We may contact you if we find that your skills and experience fit our needs with current or future openings.

Sincerely,
CALIBRE

Q. May I send my resume to CALIBRE without applying for a specific position?

A. Yes. On our website, at the top of the “Current Opportunities” page, click on the link that says “To apply for positions not listed below, please submit your resume here.”

Q. Is it necessary to submit a cover letter along with my resume? Is it recommended?

A. It is not necessary, but including a cover letter with your resume paints a more complete picture of you as a job candidate. It also helps our recruiter better match available positions to your objectives, skills, and qualifications.

Q. How should I format my resume?

A. When applying for a position on our website, you can forward your resume content "as is" using the cut-and-paste box on the resume submittal form. No reformatting is necessary, as it is likely to be changed during transmission.

Q. Will I be considered for positions other than the one for which I've submitted my resume?

A. Possibly! When you respond to a specific position, your resume is reviewed in response to that position. In addition, our recruiter also searches for specific skill sets so your resume might match a different position, for which you could be considered. Another point to remember: Once your resume is in our system, it remains in our “active” files, which means it may come up as a match to a new position at a later date.

Q. I’m interested in more than one position you have listed. Do I need to submit my resume twice?

A. We recommend that you submit your resume for each position you’re interested in and for which you qualify. Usually, two or three positions will be the maximum candidates are interested in at one time.

Q. How often do you update your database of open jobs?

A. Openings are posted on-line until they are filled. The job listing is updated as changes occur, so jobseekers view the most complete, up-to-date information we can provide.

Q. How long do jobs remain posted online?

A. Openings are posted on-line until they are filled. The job listing is updated as changes occur, so jobseekers view the most complete, up-to-date information we can provide.

Q. How will I know if you have received my resume and/or cover letter?

A. When you submit your resume and/or cover letter via CALIBRE’s corporate website, you will receive electronic notification verifying receipt. This note will say the following.

Thank you, for your submission.

We have received your resume and appreciate your interest in employment with CALIBRE. We may contact you if we find that your skills and experience fit our needs with current or future openings.

Sincerely,
CALIBRE

Q. Can I update my resume or references at any time?

A. Yes. To do so, you must resubmit your updated resume in response to a specific position you are interested in or, if not interested in a specific opening, select the link “To apply for positions not listed below, please submit your resume here.” Essentially, you must submit your resume as though it were your first time doing so; however, you will notice that some of the basic information you provided on your original application is used to automatically repopulate this form. This is done through the use of a “cookie” and you are able to change this information if needed. The education, resume, and cover letter fields, however, will be empty.

Q. Will you contact my former employers for references?

A. That depends on the position. Some positions do not require a current security clearance, while others do. Others require that the applicant be eligible to receive a clearance. For those positions where a security clearance is required but not an immediate condition of employment, we state the following at the end of the job description “Applicants selected must hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. government security clearance”. For positions where a security clearance is immediately required, we state the following with the job posting: “Successful candidate must hold a current secret security clearance”.

Q. How do I know if I’m eligible to obtain a clearance? What are the criteria?

A. To be eligible to obtain a clearance, you must be a U.S. citizen and you should not have a serious criminal record. If hired for the position, you will go through a thorough investigation before a clearance is approved.

Q. Once I’ve submitted my resume, what happens next?

A. Once your resume has been submitted, it goes directly into our resume database. Our recruiter searches our database for resumes matching current job openings. Matches may be made through searches based on 1) the specific position or 2) the job skills. Our recruiter reviews all resumes found against the different searches. Resumes of qualified candidates are forwarded to the hiring manager for further review. If there is an interest in your resume by a hiring manager, you will be contacted by a representative from Human Resources, who will schedule an interview with you. If there is no interest by the hiring manager, we will not contact you; however, do not be discouraged. Your resume will remain in our resume database and continue to be accessed if matched against future searches.

Q. How does your interview process work?

A. When a candidate is scheduled for an interview, he/she will first meet with one of our Human Resources representatives to complete CALIBRE’s application form. The candidate will then meet with two to five interviewers. There are usually 20-30 minutes allocated to each interviewer, although some interviewers prefer to interview together.

We try to have candidates meet all interviewers on their first interview; however, due to conflicting schedules, this is not always possible and some candidates may need to return for a second interview.

Once all interviews for a position have been completed, the hiring manager reviews candidate evaluations completed by each interviewer and makes a recommendation to hire based on these evaluations. The recommendation goes to Human Resources for analysis and then requires approval by the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. Once approved, an offer interview is scheduled. A position remains open in our job listing until an offer interview has occurred and the candidate has accepted the position.

When filling an opening, CALIBRE looks at a number of factors, such as required qualifications, experience, demonstrated skills, knowledge, and the ability to handle key job-related situations. We are fortunate enough to attract many qualified candidates which can make our selection process very difficult. With usually only one opening per job requisition, we are forced to turn away many fine applicants. If you are one of these candidates who interviewed but were not called back for an offer interview, we will mail you a letter informing you that you were not chosen for this specific position. We will continue to hold your resume for consideration against future openings and also hope that you continue to consider CALIBRE in your search for future employment.
